back at it

It has been a while, sorry.
My sweet mom FINALLY sold her home, and I have been swamped with helping her and PTA stuff. But I got to be me again this week! It has been so very nice to get back at it. I often have to make several attempts at projects before I am happy with them, but this week, I was happy first try with several. That was a nice feeling!
Sunday is Scrap Club, and we will make this layout with basic gray, kiwi kiss, so saffron, and cameo coral. I love this stamp set. I think it makes a nice statement for cards or pages. I colored directly on the stamp with our watercolor crayons, and then misted it with water just before stamping. if you click on the image, you can see it closer and with greater detail. This is a fun technique that I haven't been able to get enough of this week.

holiday goodies are coming!!!!!

Am I the only one who gets super excited this time of year...when all of the Halloween/Christmas products start coming out? And yes - I am one of those people who buys all of the Halloween stuff I can get my hands on even though:

A - we don't have kids

B - my husband won't let me dress up the dogs...anymore

C - I don't think the neighbors would appreciate some strange lady down the street (me) taking pictures of their children :)

Anyhoo - wanted to send some links to the latest and greatest that are on the way to IRW and/or your local scrapbook stores...happy shopping everybody!!

Same supplies: different look

I am a lover of sketches. Usually my creations don't end up exactly like the sketches but they are a great jumping off point". When I first became a Close to My Heart consultant I had already used and loved their products for several years but did not own any of the sketch books yet. Right off the bat I had customers asking me why you would want to pay for a book of sketches when you would only use each sketch once. (They had a fear that all their pages would start looking the same.) So I set out to show them how easy it is to change a sketch up just by changing colors and a few small elements. Both of these layouts were done using the exact same sketch and stamp sets. I changed the color scheme, the angle of a couple of photo mats and few other small elements. When I display these pages by the open sketch book I sell the book like crazy :-)

fast scrap

It seems I am always looking for fast ways to scrap. I want everything done quickly, maybe that is why I tend to overload myself. Who knows, but this is a neat idea I got at Stampin' Up! regionals a few years ago. I couldn't wait to get home and try it! It is simple, fast, and fun. A customer of mine makes one for each month for her daughter to put highlights of her child in. How great is that? I wish I had thought of that when my two boys were growing so fast and learning so many new things. The presenter at convention used her to mark things that were important to her each year. There are many many applications, and ways to alter it.
Take a file folder, cover with designer papers, for the pages they will all be the same width, but each page will be an inch longer, making the cascade. Attach with clips from an office supply, add ribbon and embellishments and viola... mini scrap book.

When I had to make this after regionals, I used my favorite paper, brown and pink, so then I didn't really want to put my boys in it. so I made a book about all the trips I have taken with my dear friend to see clay concerts, we have been all over. So it serves as a travel log as well. As you can see, I need to finish it.

Got Xyron?

So many times at expos and crops people will come by our IRW booth, see the Xyron machines out on the table, and say "I have one of those - but I've never taken it out of the box"! Once we let them try it out they are TOTALLY hooked...but since I can't come to everybody's house (as much as I'd love to - you know how I feel about home cooking!) and show them how to use their tools - Xyron has done the next best thing!

We've created a series of videos that demonstrate how to use every machine that Xyron carries. We don't have them all done yet - but hopefully will have a complete library by the end of the year! So get your Xyron machines out of the box, click on these videos, and get crafty! :)
